Vintage 1959 Hofner Club 40
The earliest Club guitars up to about 1959 were constructed with flat backs. After this time, backs were arched to fall in line with other models. All Club guitars have two small guitar strap fixings comprising a leather strip, folded in two containing a metal D-ring. The position of these is on the heel and on the bottom rim next to the tailpiece fixing.
With their distinctive shape clearly inspired by Gibson’s Les Paul,
Hofner Club guitars were sold in the UK by Selmer from 1956.
They proved to be an instant hit with young skiffle combos:
John Lennon, George Harrison, Ritchie Blackmore and David Gilmour
all played a Club in their early days.
Their short scale and compact size make them really easy to play
and the control panel offers a wide range of sound configurations.
This Hofner is in great shape for it's age.
