The 2000 Gibson SG Supreme is a highly sought-after, premium solid-body electric guitar that represented the pinnacle of the Gibson USA production line when it was released. Positioned just below the elite Custom Shop models, the SG Supreme combined the iconic, double-cutaway SG body shape with luxurious aesthetics and upgraded components.
Key Features of the 2000 Model
The year 2000 was a pivotal transitional phase for the SG Supreme line, marked by a major shift in hardware and electronics:
- The Humbucker Transition: While the SG Supreme was introduced in 1999 exclusively with P-90 pickups, the 2000 model year introduced dual humbuckers (specifically Gibson '57 Classic or PAF Reissue pickups). This configuration quickly became the standard and ultimately led to the discontinuation of the P-90 variant a couple of years later.
